Based on many years of research and teaching experience, Prelude to Algebra is a new pre-algebra text that introduces algebraic thinking in a simple arithmetic context. It increases students’ understanding, reduces their errors, and helps overcome “math anxiety.” Instead of relying on rote memorization, the Prelude approach emphasizes understanding and presents topics in a mathematically correct way that beginning students can relate to their everyday experiences.

The PRELUDE approach has been used with great success for many years in remedial classes for under-prepared college students and is now being used in selected elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools in Tennessee.
